Delicious Doodles Challenge time!

Hello everyone it is so cold this week I am hoping the rain holds off as my sister is getting married tomorrow and we have to drive a long way to get there. I have been busy preparing for Christmas. I am making some felt stockings for several friends, a special advent calendar for the children and I am going to make a reef and some bunting. I am also trying to prepare for a school winter fayre and fit my own christmas cards in too!!

I am showing you my DT card for Delicious Doodles challenge this week. The theme "Something that flies" I chose to use three Delicious Doodle images for this card. Holly Fairy, Christmas Holly border and the Snowflake collection. You can find all the images in the store.

I use Craft Artist Professional to create my own backing paper using the Snowflake collection from Delicious Doodles. I then combined the Holly Fairy image and the Christmas Holly border to create one image. I coloured with alcohol pens and added some holly embellishments from My Paper Flower expert. I then added a sentiment.

I vintaged up my background on the fairy image with crackle accents which i added to the wings too.

Challenges I would like to enter are:
Creative Card Crew - Anything Goes
Cute Card Thursday - Girls only (all girlies love a fairy)

Colouring Tutorial - Creating Dinosaur Skin

Hi well finally I have taken  the plunge of drawring my own designs and turning them into digital stamps and kits. I have previously drawn images digitally but I was not happy with the results. So from now on I will be drawring them by hand and then digitally altering them.

I am just doing a tutorial on how to create Dinosaur skin using the very cute newest release at Twit Whoo Designs. He is called Santasaurus. He is inspired by my son who loves dinosaurs.

You could use this technique on all reptiles.

Tutorial Recipe
Image - Santasaurus
Spectrum Noirs - DG1,LG1,LY2,LG3,DG1,|TN1

Tutorial

1) Colour in the image Santasaurus with LG1 in small circular motions all over to give a base for the rest of the colours.

2)Now using the chisel end of your LY2 Spectrum Noir place random strokes all over the top 2 thirds of the image.

3) Now take the TN1 and do the same as step 2 but try to put the marks in diffent places and in some places overlap the ones that you have already placed down.

4) Repeat step 3 with LG3 Spectrum Noir Can you see the layers building up in the photo above

 5) Repeat Step 3 with DG1.

 6) Add a layer of Crackle glaze over all the areas where you have coloured in depending on how thick your layer is it should take 1-2 hours to dry and it creates the effect of reptile skin. You could use in over grey elephant skin for a similar textural effect.

 7) This is an example of the finished technique.

8) Here is another example.

I hope you like what I have done and please leave a comment if you use the technique so I can visit you and see what you have done.

The card I made with the image is a DL card. The papers and Holly are from Paper Flower Expert CD rom (My Craft Studio). The ribbon is from Natalie and Amy's. The sentiments are from Twit Whoo Designs. The punch is Martha Stewart and the twine and buttons are from my stash.

Challenges I am entering with this card are

Crafty Catz - Anything Goes
Winter Wonderland - One for the Boys
ABC Christmas Challenge - Vibrant Colours
